Quantum Bose-Hubbard model with an evolving graph as a toy model for F Caravelli, S Severini, K Markström, Physical Review D 81 (10), 104032, 2010.

The Hubbard model describes a one dimensional chain of atoms of length Lwith periodic boundary conditions. The electrons have same-site and nearest-neighbor interactions only. The Hamiltonian of the model is given by a sum over hopping terms and same-site terms at every site. In second quantization it is given by [1] H= t XL j=1 X a=";# cy j;a c j+1;a+ c y j+1;a c j;a + U XL j=1 n Sketch of the Hofstadter-Hubbard model. (a) Real-space representation on a cylindrical geometry, with a twist angle δ implemented via homogeneous, complex hopping rates along the y direction. The magnetic field is implemented via position-dependent complex phases, sketched here for flux α = 1 / 3. Paper: cond-mat/9311033 The Hubbard model of interacting electrons, like the Ising model of spin-spin interactions, is the simplest possible model displaying many ``real world'' features, but it is much more difficult to analyze qualitatively than the Ising model.

In the case of these materials the Hubbard model is effective: it can be used to describe the magnetic and electric properties of such materials and the relationships between them. We review the slave-boson representations of the Hubbard model. When both spin and charge fermion degrees of freedom are represented by Bose fields, the approach is equivalent at the “self-consistent” saddle point level to the Gutzwiller approximation (GA). 1.2 Model Hamiltonians In this section we want to motivate our description of the cuprate CuO 2 layer. First we want to show that such a 2D system can be described by an extended Hubbard model and then we argue that a single band Hubbard model is probably sufficient to capture the relevant physics. 2013-10-01 · We review the physics of the Bose–Hubbard model with disorder in the chemical potential focusing on recently published analytical arguments in combination with quantum Monte Carlo simulations.

Rather, we attempted to nd a balance between being didactic and being comprehensive. It is impossible to solve the corresponding many-body problems analytically or numerically, although much insight can be gained from the analysis of simplified models. An important example is the Hubbard model, which describes interacting electrons in narrow energy bands, and which has been applied to problems as diverse as high-Tc superconductivity, band magnetism, and the metal-insulator transition. into account all interactions.

The Fermi-Hubbard model is of fundamental importance in condensed-matter physics, yet is extremely challenging to solve numerically. Finding the ground state of the Hubbard model using variational methods has been predicted to be one of the first applications of near-term quantum computers. Here we carry out a detailed analysis and The Hubbard Hamiltonian (HH) offers one of the most simple ways to get insight into how the interactions between electrons give rise to insulating, magnetic, and even novel superconduct-ing effects in a solid.

Hubbard model review

The Bose–Hubbard model gives a description of the physics of interacting spinless bosons on a lattice. It is closely related to the Hubbard model which originated in solid-state physics as an approximate description of superconducting systems and the motion of electrons between the atoms of a crystalline solid. The Hubbard model is the main working model in the theory of SCES.

The choice of these topics as subjects of our review is dictated by our common interests. Understanding phase diagrams of simple model systems precisely is about far more than testing well-established theory, and the 2D Fermi-Hubbard model is perhaps the best illustration of this point. A few decades after it was introduced, the model took on a new significance in the search for the cause of high-temperature superconductivity in copper-oxide compounds. A schematic representation of the spectrum of the Hubbard model as the effective electron repulsion U varies from very large (Valence Bond limit) to zero (Hückel limit). parentage, since for large U the energy cost of doubly occupying a site is too large.
